I know, cheesy title, I apologize.
This past week we spent most of our time in Kitale at a place called the Challenge Farm. This place takes in street kids and gives them a home. They make them quit sniffing glue cold turkey and constantly gives them candy and other things to eat to keep their minds off the glue. It takes about two months for the new children to get used to the schedule they have a ready to start going to school. They have a K-8 school on the grounds, and the highschoolers either walk to school each day or go to boarding school. It was such a blessing to our team to be able to spend time at a place like this. While we were there we did manual labor such as cleaning out store rooms and painting, so it was nice to actually see the work we did. I met a 15 yr old named Martha who is in the 8th grade and she is so precious. Before we left she gave me a beaded ring and necklace and had written me a letter. I got the address to the farm and plan on keeping in touch with her once I get back home. We were there Wednesday-Saturday, so It's nice to be back in Busia.
We leave on Tuesday to head to Nakuru until Friday, then Friday we go to Nairobi to catch our flight back to the states. We have to say goodbye to all of the people we have met since we've been here tomorrow, so that is going to be incredibly hard. I am dreading leaving both Nga'Nga' and Dennis, so your prayers would be most appreciated.
I would also like to ask that you pray for us as we travel to Nakuru and Nairobi, and for our entire team as we leave Tuesday because this place has blessed us all more than we imagined. Leaving it is going to be one of the hardest things we've ever had to do, so pray for strength as we say goodbye to all the friends we have made here.
Psalm 143:8 "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul."
