Our ministry here in Busia is quite different from what it was the first 2 months. Here, our schedule changes frequently and you never know what you might be doing. We mostly do door to door and hospital visits, but a couple weeks ago we ended up helping at a children's conference that was being held at our church. We basically helped Chef Lucas cook breakfast, lunch, and afternoon tea. We cooked a lot of mandazi and chiptai. Cut up who knows how many vegetables and it was quite fun!   Inbetween helping serve and cooking and preparing for the next meal, we cleaned a ton of dishes!

Serving the meals was the most stressful part of it all- you would have thought it would have been the easiest. A long line of men and women. But the long line was not the hardest part at all. Whatever was leftover, we would give to the children that were there (some street kids, some kids to poor to go to school). For some of these kids it is probably some of the only food they will receive that day. Normally there is food leftover, but one day when we were done serving lunch and starting to serve the children that was when things got interesting. We had some of the pastors at this conference tell us that some of the adults had not gotten seconds or thirds and we should not be giving these children food. We had adults cutting in front of these children trying to make sure they got more than enough seconds because they did not want to share with these children. They were here for children. They were here to learn how to share Jesus with children. It really opened up my eyes to how a lot of the world views children.  One of the girls on my team wrote about the life of a child and it will change everything you know about the children in this world.   Click here to read it!!!
