Last Wednesday we went to Mama's orphanage and it was a goodbye party for a woman who is helping them build a school. We ate food with the kids and then we went into the cafeteria to dance and eat dessert and sing. We all sat and the kids are in our laps hanging out, some were sleeping. They had music playing were setting up some cake for everyone to eat.
The cake was round and in America it would feed about 10 people a good amount of cake. There are over 130 kids in this place ranging from the ages of 3 months to early twenties. That is a lot of kids with very little cake. They sang her a song for her goodbye then Mama started cutting the cake up in small, very small pieces for each kid to get a piece. They were all excited for just this quarter size marble cake. It was eye opening. They got a sucker and a little pack of cookies too. But, to see them get excited and not grab for more than what was given to them is very aweinspiring. It was so cool.
Once everyone was done eating, there were kids who had a dance all ready, so they danced and it was fun to see their skills come out in individuality. Then there was a group of children and teenagers that came into the middle once the singing was done. They sang a song about how they love Jesus and how they love because He first loved them. I was getting choked up.
Some of these kids have been dropped off, others run away, other have seen their parents die infront of them, some have been left on the side of the building in the middle of the night, and others have a parent but the parent is unable to care for them. These kids have nothing, but the love of Jesus. How POWERFUL are these kids and they can change the world if they had the opportunity. It was seriously a night that God has put in my heart to break for Him. It was so good.
When you are 1 of 130+ kids who wear clothes that aren't your own and sacrifice food for others and can't afford to go to the doctor when you are sick and you can't go to school or you have to stay up late to take care of the younger children crying at night…would you be thankful for Jesus or leave Him? I am so proud of these kids and Mama for starting this place of hope and love for these kids to know Jesus and to have faith in Him to save them and never leave them when other people have.
God taught me a lot that night, but I definitely learned thankfulness and love of Jesus on these children.
