Friday morning Brian, Regan, Peter, and I hitched a ride on a dump truck that took us four miles down the dirt road to the Turkana Quarries and there he was. John was all alone sitting under the shade next to a tree. Immediately you could see the hopelessness in his eyes we have all felt before. John did not know Jesus Christ. He was lost.
After talking with him for a little bit he began to open up to us more and more. The past week of his life has literally been a living hell. He was kicked out of his house because he couldn’t pay rent. He was poor and he no job. He was hungry and he had no food. He was broken, he was depressed, and he was lost.
The night before we met him and the morning of, John told us he wanted to murder himself. It consumed his mind. He had no hope, he didn’t have a purpose. John needed a savior. He was lost.
John was lost but now he is FOUND. His savior came for him. Jesus spoke directly to his heart through four servants of Christ. God moved and by his grace John was saved. Immediate transformation took place in John’s heart. He was born again, a new creation in Christ. Joy filled his soul and it was obvious. John now has a hope and a peace that can only be found through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. John’s life will never be the same, and through this experience with him, neither will ours.
God did not waste any time showing John the love He has for him. God’s power and mercy began to pour out on his life the very next day. After speaking with John again he found a Job at the Quarry, he was given enough money to pay his rent and move back into his home, and someone even gave him a bible to read. God has huge plans for John, and for some reason I know we will be seeing him again.
