On Wednesday night, just before we were supposed to start our second revival meeting, there was a storm and we lost power. The following is an excerpt from journal before I went to bed:
"Bishop asked us to go to the church and pray for power to return. He said that if it did, he wanted us to continue with service, and if not then to go back to the house. Well, we went. and we prayed. In the church. In the dark. At first nothing happened. The Lord laid it on my heart to sing "The Heart of Worship." The first two lines say "When the music fades and all is stripped away / And I simply come longing just to bring something that's of worth…" Halfway through the song, the power came back on!!! I really feel like God was wanting our hearts to be in the right place. So He literally stripped everything away: music, instruments, lights, everything. One of the lines of the song says "I'm sorry, Lord for the thing I've made it when it's all about You." It is all about Him. And yet so often I take the focus off of Him and place so much emphasis on what I can say or what I can do. How apporpriate that God took my heart back to where it belongs tonighyt. Lord help me to never forget. This is all for You. all about You. Most imporatnly, all because of You. I'm thankful for the power outage that occurred tonight (never in my life did I think I would say that). I'm thankful for the lesson I learned because of it. and I'm thankful for a God who is patient and loving and willing to teach lessons over and over."
To some, this may seem simple. Power goes out often, and power returns just as often. But this happened at the exact moment that we all needed to learn something. God is good! Loving Kenya!
