Christmas Time!

Today I listened to Christmas music. Not by choice of course, because it’s the end of January, and that would just be absurd, but because this precious little boy knew the words to Christmas songs. His name is Eugene, and he is one of the smartest 9 year old I think I’ve ever met. So while watching him mouth the words to the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” I had this epiphany. It really had nothing to do with Eugene, or Christmas songs, or anything in particular, it was just really everything was setting in. How simplistic things are here. People are caught up in the latest and greatest. Music, movies, fashion, none of that is of importance here. What matters is relationships, with people and God. Eugene knows everyone in the town, and vice versa. And what’s even more important, is so confident of his love for God. He knows he has a relationship with Jesus and whenever he is asked about it, he firmly says so. Remember, 9 years old folks. I pray that I become that sure and that confident whenever people ask me about my faith. It’s one thing to believe, but when you are questioned and tested by other people, well that’s another. I’m so encouraged and uplifted by Eugene, and really everyone here. They KNOW God. They LOVE Him and trust Him without a doubt. That’s amazing. Eugene is going to do great things and I cannot wait to continue to love on him and grow a relationship with him.

So I encourage all of you to look at what’s really important in your life. What you’re occupying your time with and spending money on, who you’re investing yourself in.

Until next time! Mungu nakabarki! (God bless you!)

P.S. I had the most perfect picture of me and Eugene, but I wasn't able to upload it with our internet connect. Patience is a virtue!
