Ask Boldly

I’ve only been here with my group for 3 days and i have been stretched more, broken more, hurt more, and loved more than i have ever been in my entire life. These past 3 days I have been Gainsville, GA for training camp. Our team consists of 12 people with 2 leaders. As soon as i met my group i knew God ordained eacdh of us to there. We all fit together perfectly. And seeing these Godly people and getting to know them these few days i know that God has placed a dangerous group to go to Kenya- dangerous for him, where we ask and don’t hold back, where we pray boldly, and where we listen to the voice of the Father.

After arriving to the airport and meeting everyone for the first time our very first assignment was to make our way to the Safe House in downtown ATL with only $20. Right then and there i knew that i was going to have to put my expectations about the trip aside and be willing to  try new things and take new risks for God. So, we dragged all of our luggage around the streets of ATL trying to find the address given to us. We finally got there. The Safe House it read. The Safe House is a shelter for anyone in need to get food, rest, or help. They told us we were staying there fort the night. So, my first experience with AIM was staying in a homeless shelter- talk about getting to a place of reliance and humility. Our next assignment was nothing I saw coming. They said we were going to homeless for the night. Homeless. Little did we know the low temperature for that night was below freezing. It’s funny because i call myself a follower of Christ and i will give my old clothes to th poor and go across the world to give hope to the hopeless, but i have never had to worry about were i was going to stay for the night. This whole experience was surreal because all my life i have been taught to be careful downtown, to watch my back, and the homeless only want one thing: money to buy drugs or alcohol. So we went where we thought God was leading, praying for everyone we saw on the street. We found this guy named Leon at about 1:30am and he was just smiling and singing to himself. And while I am shaking inside of my 4 layers of clothing, he was praising God for his life. Talk about convicting. He asked us to sing with him. We sang “Heart of Worship.” Seven voices, on the corner street in ATL, singing with one one else around, in the freezing cold. It was so beautiful and all i could think of was how God was the audience. He didn’t care that we were off pitch and he didn’t care that we were different colors, He saw it was beautiful. It puts perspective how people actually live and how unaware we are of it. It also broke this stereotype that the homeless are uneducated and they NEED the Lord. This man had more faith that i will probably ever have. He was breathing life into me and our group, he was the witness, he was letting God speak through him.

“Thank you GOd for breaking those stereotypes and for letting me see how you are moving even in the streets of ATL. It made me realize that there are people everywhere that need the Lord and that he is working everywhere. ”

God is moving volumes in this group already. The way He is speaking to each of us is al different, but all so powerful. Unfortunately one of our members had to go home because she is sick with mono. Please be praying for her because she is better shemight be able to join us in February. Please als opray that God would continue to break our hearts for the things that break God’s heart, that He will remove all fears and anxiety and let God move however He wants. Pray for safe travel and smooth transitions, that all our bags will arrive safely, and that we would stay healthy. Pray that we will hear the voice of God and that we would act on that. Pray that we would ask God Boldly and live dangerously. thanks for all your prayers, believe me God is working and moving in powerful ways. I can’t wait to write and tell you the amazing things God is going to do in Kenya.
