About a week ago I was sitting outside reading next to one of my leaders, Michael. He then randomly asked me if I had a book with mazes. I told him no and then I asked him why… you never really know what is going through his head. He told me that he wants to create a maze all over the yard and make the team walk through it. Ahhhh… see what I mean? I really didn't think that we would ever actually do it but before I knew I it I was sitting next to him trying to design it.
Believe it or not… it was actually a ton of fun to make. We used yarn and nails and the maze quite literally was stretched all across the yard and even wrapped around the house. We then had a competition to see who could go through it the fastest. The winner would receive a free meal and dessert at Java House when we get back into Nairobi. Our dream was to create a maze that would take 10 min. to complete. As the competition started we realized that we had actually accomplished it. 4 different teammates walked through it and all of them went over 10 min. And then the unexpected happened. Jeremy went through it with the time of 2 min. and 34 sec.! I still don't know how he did it.
All of this to say that it has really amazed me what boredom will do to you while you are in the middle of Africa.
