The man named Joshua

Hello friends and family,    So, we made it to Kenya! I’ve only been here about 2 weeks and I’ve already done so much. God is continually breaking down walls that I have put around myself and continually showing me that I can do amazing things if I just trust in Him.    Lately, the ministry our team has been doing is hut to hut visits. This consists of traveling to a house, being invited in, given chai tea, telling them about Jesus, then walking to the next house which may be another mile away, and doing the same thing. Through these visits I have seen a...

Best class ever

It’s crazy we have been together for three weeks. It really seems like I’ve known all these people for so much longer. Anyway I don’t really feel like writing a deep, serious blog right now. So i’ll just briefly mention how each team member contributes something incredible to the team. Sam – He is the oldest of all of us, and he is a natural leader. I’m sure he would say he needs to grow a lot more in his faith, but to me he has been an incredible example of how to really go all in and try to strengthen your relationship with Christ. Sandy – You...

Massai School Rock Show.

In our first Massai village we visited a few schools which was awesome.  The day we visited the first school was a day where we had done a lot of walking and door to door(hut to hut) ministry.  I think we were all pretty tired and just wanted to go back to the church we were staying at and crash in our tents.  I guess you could say we were a little exhausted.   We arrived at the school and right when we walked into that gr.7-8 class room there was an uproar.  It was awesome!  The kids were clapping and cheering because they were so excited to see...

Starry Night

I once heard a quote that said, “Beauty is one of the rare things that does not lead to the doubt of God” and I think that is so true.   This past week we went to a different village down in the rift valley (it’s hard for me to pronounce it, so I’m not even going to attempt to spell it) and I felt like every day I saw an awesome example of God’s beauty. The last night we were there we saw the COOLEST night sky I have ever seen! (Jo, you would have LOVED it). The whole entire sky was covered in bright stars, and they all seemed to be twinkling. I felt...

headed out to visit the Turkana tribe

I spoke with Nick & Hannah, the team leaders, this morning and things are going really well.  The team is working well together and diving into community life.  They’re being stretched to boldly step out and share their faith and have also enjoyed being able to encourage and pray with believers.  They had a wonderful week with the Masaai tribe and just returned to Kijabe for a day of rest.  Tomorrow they will head out again, this time to go do ministry with the Turkana tribe in an area where our host has a church plant.  The team is physically healthy and...

a little update

I just spoke with Pastor Simon, our host in Kenya, and the team is doing really well.  Unfortunately they haven’t had internet yet, thus no blogs have been posted.  Upon arrival into Kijabe they went immediately out to do ministry in the bush, with the Masaai tribe for a week.  They’re diving right in and getting a quick immersion into Kenyan culture!  Pastor Simon said that things are going really well and that the team is even able to follow up with some of the relationships that past Real Life teams built.  We look forward to when they’re able...
