Spread the Gospel wherever you go.

I have a lot to say in a few short minutes. We've been in the Turkana village for a whole week and just returned to Kijabe yesterday. I learned a lot can happen in one week. The first two days we were there, we were made aware of how dry it was by the sound of childrens' coughs, and the dirt that would fly in our eyes with a gust of wind. From door to door ministry, we learned that it hadn't rained for 3 months. The people in the village rely heavily on crops to sell and to feed their families. No rain=no crops. The 2nd day, we fasted dinner and prayed for God's rain to...

Yesu Unacoupenda

So after about 16 hours of plane rides and 13 hours of bus riding (n which loud music played for about 12.77 hours of the ride), we have finally arrived in Mpeketoni, Kenya! (4 days ago.) We had the first 3ish days to relax which mostly amounted to playing with the kids, napping, sweating, swatting away flies, sweating, and anxiously waiting for our ministry time to begin! I'm truely thankful for the place where we are staying at. The pastor's family and friends serve us wonderfully. We eat like kings, as my stomach can testify, our rooms are spacious, and there are no creepy...

“You Student. I Give You Good Price!)

After traveling for 3 days going from plane to plane we arrived in Nairobi late at night and stayed in a hostel. Way nicer than anything I expected. The next day we got to spend the day out on the town. Many of us being excited to finally be in Kenya wanted to start collecting souvenirs for family and friends and so we went shopping. We were welcomed into many shops and heard the promise of a good price. Oh the lies! So this is how they do it in Africa. They don’t have price tags on anything so they just let you shop and pick out everything you want, even carrying it for you until...

Mungu ni mwema

At training camp I proclaimed to God, "Yes God, send me I will go wherever you want me to go." Last time I let go of everything I held onto and let God work in my life I ended up on this trip to Kenya, flying and driving thousands of miles to reach people who needed to hear about Jesus! I don't think I realized the statement I made and the power of the Holy Spirit. Thinking about Gods love, I want to do nothing else but tell people who are hurting, hungry, and in need, to tell them that God loves them, feeds them, and heals them! " If Jesus Christ be God and died for me...

He is my portion

JAMBO! A quick update: We arrived in Mpeketoni yesterday after a 13 hour bus ride, which was quite an experience. It felt more like a 13 hour rollercoaster ride to me. After all the traveling we only had a few negative side effects, the worst of which was CANKLES. So far I've learned to wash clothes in a bucket and use a squatty potty. We were awoken this morning by a down poor of rain and the pastor and others singing praises to the Lord for the rain! We have church tomorrow from 8am-1pm and I CANNOT WAIT! We will start hospital visits and house to house visits on Tuesday. When I...

Attention Parents and Supporters!

May 2, 2011. Early this morning news broke that US officials announced that Osama Bin Laden was killed late last night in Pakistan. The US State Department issued a worldwide travel advisory for all US citizens abroad, anticipating the possibility of retaliatory violence by Bin Laden sympathizers. While none of our Real Life teams are in high-threat areas, we have been in contact with them to keep them aware of ongoing events and to be sure they are all safe.
