Glory, Glory Hallelujah

Glory. Give glory to God for Glory. She us made in the image of God. She wS born without an anus. Give Glory to Gid. She has spent a month and one week at the Kijabe hospital. She is three ears old. Her mother is named Wendy, but she should be named Patience. She sits with her daughter each day. She changes the dressing for her daughter.. Her daughter has a port in her stomach to release the waste. Is wendy changes the dressing, a smell is released that could make you sick, but her mother is diligent. She does not waver at the smell. She slowly wipes around the port, cleansing it, and...

Grieving the lost

I cannot predict the future, but I know one thing for certain. This last week in Kenya will be hard. I’m not one to make many emotional attachments, but yesterday as I chatted with a friend in between saying goodbyes at a ministry location it hit me. I’m going to miss this place and these people. Not in the way we say “see you, miss you, bye!” But a heart-wrenching, sob for days, never want to forget kind of missing. And the grieving process begins now as we say our goodbyes during our final days of ministry. As I choked back tears yesterday, the one comfort that...

Even Now God Wins

Raw flesh. Bare scalp. Distorted face. No eyelid. Only one nostril. Melted gums. A crippled hand. Patches of grafted skin. That is what I saw when I first met a 1 year old boy named Godwin. Somehow his bed caught on fire and he was severely burned. His own mother looked at him like he was from another world, and to be honest I was a little afraid at first too. In the afternoon when I came back to that part of the pediatric ward I was overwhelmed by a desire to love on this precious boy and his mom. As he laid there on the bed crying in pain I asked if I could hold him so his mom could make...

Salt

“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer gokd for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men.” Matthew 5:13 Salt is a major ingredient in most foods, whether baking or cookig. Similar to the Jody, there is a range of adequate amount of salt needed in food.      In my mind, salt alone  is disgusting, but mixed with other ingredients, it is...

Far From Over

It’s so crazy that the time is here, just about 2 months ago I was on an airplane about to embark on a journey that I knew was gonna forever change me, the way I see life, and many things were gonna be affirmed. I didn’t know how any of that was gonna pan out, but it definitely did. God used these months to rock my world. To open my eyes to the things unseen, to break my heart, to really impact those around me and the people I ministered to. This world is in so much need, it yearns for truth. It’s our duty as the body of Christ to break out of our bubble and realize what...

Faith that can’t be shaken

I want to share a quick story with you. I’m not gonna lie, this story will challenge you, impact you, and possibly even change your view on the world around you. I had the privilege to meet Francis today. Francis lives at an IDP camp in Maai Mahu and his story goes a little something like this. It all started in the elections of 2007 when his whole world was turned upside down.   His life would never be the same. He and his wife lived normal lives..a Christian family that devoted their time and money raising their seven children. He worked as a truck driver and she was a business...
