Hiii! Wow, what a week! The Lord has taught me so much this past week. I was able to surrender some things I needed to to Him and see him be faithful in so many different ways! I want to share though about an experience I had earlier this week. A couple of days ago I went into my first slum. It was unreal, and unlike anything I had ever been in before. I mean I had tried to prepare myself for this trip by looking up pictures of the slums but when you’re there it is completely different. There is layers of trash everywhere, there is wet dirt and human poop (which I stepped in..HA!) on the ground, there is sewer water that just runs throughout the whole place, there are these precious kids that come running after you yelling the only English they know: “How are you!”. There is corruption, there is sadness, and yet there is hope. We were able to go into a few of the student’s homes (one was a little boy named Hillary’s home) and pray over the area and there families. I believe 10 people lived in their slum. The home had a table and 6 stools. The rent is 1000 shillings a month, or roughly $13. The Lord really broke me to see poverty unlike anything I have ever seen before. But the Lord is so good. He showed me how much he loves these people. How great his plans are for them and how selfish I am. I was praying the Lord would make me more compassionate on this trip and the Lord definitely is. I’m so thankful for that. We have been ministering in Kiserian these past few days, where we built a church and I met a group of Masaai people. I look forward to this week and all the Lord has in store for us!
love you all!!!! Happy Fathers day dad!!
peace & blessings,
claire 🙂
