update from Kenya

We spoke with the team leaders today and they wanted us to pass along this update on how the team is doing.  They are still in the remote village with the Masaai tribe.  They will be returning to civilization (Kijabe) on Friday and should have internet access Saturday and/or Sunday before heading out to another village on Monday.

The team has been doing a ton of door-to-door evangelism everyday.  This requires at least 10km of walking a day, so they're getting plenty of exercise.  There's been a lot of fruit in this ministry.  They're in a place where they're realizing that the ground has been prepared from past teams, and they're thankful that they get to see the continuation of what God is doing in this area.

The team is bonding a lot.  Their nights are filled with times huddled around the campfire.  They're discovering the ins and outs of living in such a remote and primitive area with no showers and no running water.

Here's one cool story from today:  As they were out doing door-to-door ministry, one of the teams was walking through a field and saw a lady tending her garden.  They went to talk to her and before they even said anything, she started crying.  As they started talking to her, she began to share her story.  Come to find out, her husband was killed in the 2007 elections.  She has a rocky relationship with her kids and they don't talk to her anymore. She's alone in this remote village where she lives.  One of her sons has died and she took over the farm from him.  This is how she survives, buy selling the few things she can grow in the garden.

She was so excited to see the team and talk with them.  They spent some time just encouraging her and praying over her.  The entire time she was crying and thanking the Lord that the team had come. It was a very emotional time for the group that was praying with her, as they felt God moving in that place.  After praying with her, they gave her their lunches seeing how she was very hungry.  As they left, she was throwing up her hands and praising God for the food they gave her.  They looked back to see her sitting under a tree crying and thanking God for the team and for the food.  Everyone in this group was eager to share this story with the rest of the team this evening over dinner.

The team is having great days of ministry and experiencing God move in incredible ways.  Please continue to pray for them as they wind up their time there and head back to Kijabe on Friday.
