Picture of a Shepherd

What a whirlwind these past couple of days have been! God is teaching and showing me so many things about Himself. He is slowly bringing to my attention things that need to be changed in me, so that my character can resemble that of Christ Jesus. I’ve been exposed to different aspects of God that I never really paid any attention to before. Training camp has definitely been an eye-opening experience. We have been at training camp for only a few days now and I already feel so close with my team. I know that these 13 crazy kids will be my family for the next four months and I’m so excited about that!

I want to share with you an experience that stood out to me the most while here at training camp. Last night we were worshiping and singing praise songs, it was a beautiful night. One of the leaders started telling all of us about prophecy and how we are all called by God to prophecy to our brothers and sisters in Christ. I Corinthians 14:3 says, “…the one who prophecies speaks to people for their upbuilding and encouragement and consolation.” Prophecy is a gift from God to His people so that they can encourage and comfort each other. We got to try it out last night and it was incredible to feel God’s presence in the room.

Another team leader gave me this prophecy from God last night:

“The second you put your hand on me I felt COMPASSION. I see a picture of a shepherd herding helpless and lost sheep. This shepherd has patience for his lost sheep, and cares for them deeply.”

After time was up, she told me a strange word came to her that she wasn’t quite sure about. The word was…. BABIES. I know that most of you who are reading this know how much I LOVE babies and care for them so much. I feel that God has planted in my heart a passion for taking care of babies and young children. This prophecy was so encouraging to me. God is calling me to pursue my passion. I am so excited to experience what God has in store for the next chapter of my life. And this chapter begins in Kenya.
