Sasa! Habari Yako? Muzuri Sana!
Yes, I have been learning swahili. One of the many many things I have been learning this past week! My goal is to become fluent 🙂 I have had a great past week! The LORD has blessed us with a hostel type building that we sleep in (no tents–don’t worry Kenzie, we are still going to be using them later this summer!) and a wonderful man named Patrick from the church who has been making us food. We also have been able to watch the World Cup, which is part of the sports ministry that ICC (the church we have partnered with) provides. Earlier this week, we went out into the streets of nairobi (with some youth from the church) and invited them to come watch the game with them and we preached to them about Christ. Evangelism here is COMPLETELY different! Oh my. I am growing in boldness for sure. Today we went to one of the schools in east nairobi and we were able to love on the kids and teach them (Justin and I had to refresh our english skills) and share Christ with them. It was so much fun and we get to do that for the rest of this week, as well as visit some families in the slums. The whole team has been very anxious to start ministry so these past few days were very exciting! Yesterday we went to the church services and then between our team and our youth friends from ICC (youth there means they are in there 20s) we were able to share testimonies. It was incredible to hear how the Lord has worked in so many different situations in so many different people’s lives. Those stories are ones I will remember forever. We do laundry today!! Woohooo!
Fun Fact: I have yet to see a zebra/lion because it turns out that Nairobi is not open grasslands like the movies make it seem….I’m still keeping up hope!
Prayer Requests: Health of the team (My cold is kind of spreading to the team….my b.) and that we can just be bold and courageous every day and never let the opportunity to share Christ pass us by. Approach to ministry is completely different here, but it’s still the same God!
Love everyone reading this dearly!!
Peace & blessings from KENYA!!!!!!
