life is grand

I want to write this blog a little different than my other blogs . I want everyone to know what a week is like for our team and also some scriptures that I have been dwelling on through out this trip and that have really been helpful for our team.

4. Luke 14:33

2nd day of training camp
yesterday

Ok so onto what has happened this week:

Monday: is usually our free day, so we woke up late and then had a piece of bread with jelly and some water and played cards. Later we have lunch bread with peanut butter and play more cards and just relax. As our day went on we would have our quiet times with God and Julie pretty much plays guitar all day so we sing with her and just enjoy our time together as a team. Then Patrick our cook shows up and made us probably some rice and beans (which we have come to like quite a bit).

Tuesday: we woke up and had bread with jelly and the Kenyans come and meet us at the hostile and we had worship and devotion together before we do anything else. When the devotions was over we went with a program called Zinduka and checked out some of the community things they do like giving people fresh water and planting trees and plants it was a decent thing to do. During that we had lunch, bread and peanut butter, and juice. During this the team was kind of talking about how we wanted to be able to do ministry instead of just going on a field trip. So we started heading home and we got a flat tire so we had to stop at a tire shop where about 7 people got saved (just sitting on a street corner God still works). When that was all finished we went to the hostile where Patrick had dinner ready for us so we ate and went to bed.

Wednesday: we woke up and ate breakfast, bread with jelly and the Kenyans came again we had worship and devotion then headed out for the day. We went to a slum where Omosh (our Kenyan leader) grew up there we went to a mans house to pray for him, this man was unable to walk and was having some sort of trimmers so we prayed for him and during this time with our help he stood up and took a few steps but he wasn’t fully healed so we left believing that he was going to be healed in God’s timing. So we went to a high school were a few people gave their testimonies and I was given the privilege to preach a short (5 to 7 mins) message, it went really well about 8 people got saved that day. After that we went to a primary school and we did some games and I told a bible story and the kids were awesome. We didn’t get to stay there long it was kind of disappointing but it was still fun we went to a prayer service as soon as that was over, and headed home it was about 10 when we got to the hostile so we at about 10:30.

Thursday: we woke up and again ate bread and Jelly and had worship and devotion and then went on our way. We went to a church with Zinduka and ministered to some HIV/AID victims where we had some worship and I was asked to preach so I had been working on a message the entire way there but when we started worship God changed my message on me and God told me to start from scratch so I did. This time I had to preach with an interpreter and that is difficult but Omosh did a good job. We found out that the Africa Expedition Team was coming to our hostile to eat dinner with us and have some worship. It was probably one of my favorite nights we worshipped until about 11:30 God really moved and that team is amazing.

Friday: we woke up and again had bread and Jelly for breakfast and had devotion and headed out for the day. We went to pass out flyer for an outreach that ICC was doing and it was a mini world cup because of the world cup. After that we had lunch, bread and peanut butter. Then headed to Kibera (finally) we have been wanting to go so bad, so when we went some people played basketball, some people played football (soccer), and others just played with kids. While we were there Omosh took us into the slums a little deeper where we got to eat some fried fish (they gut the fish then just put it in a pan with oil and let it cook) It tasted really good and I even ate the bones (Omosh told me we were supposed to and he did it but others didn’t so I am still wondering the truth). When we left we went to the hostile and had a meeting about the fast we were having and it went really good.

Saturday: we woke up but this morning was different Nate and Traday cooked us scrambled eggs and toast. It was so awesome a real breakfast, and we found out that our fast was over. Then we headed to the mini world cup and we had an American team entered in the competition with a few Africans on our team. We lost both games but had a lot of fun doing it. We got to eat peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches and crisps (chips) and oranges, best lunch in a long while. After that game we headed back to the hostile and had the rest of the night off to rest. So we played rummy (which is like a daily occurrence.) Then Patrick came and made us dinner. Then had team feedback (which is also a nightly occurrence), and went to bed.

Sunday: Started early because Jake and I woke up early and made fried eggs and toast (and mom I made a couple cowboy eggs.) Then we headed to Kiserian for church. After church was over we went to a Christian high school and they were having a convention of some sort so we got to do a few songs and Nate did a mini message. After that we went to the hostile and just relaxed for the rest of the night and then listened to a message about how a husband should act. And then went to bed
