Learning and Seeing More and More Everyday

2 weeks with the Massiah
2 weeks with the Kikuyu
2 weeks with the Pokot

As we just passed midpoint in our trip we have lived with three different Kenyan tribes totalling a time of six weeks. Our ministry has consisted of door to door evangalism, school visits, and teaching. My team and I have seen many people accept Christ and have also been mocked by nonbelievers. God has been doing amazing work in and through us. We have met people who have never heard of Jesus before… its funny beacuse when you tell them its like something clicks, like it all finally makes sense.

So the two weeks with the Pokot tribe were terrific. Its an incredibly beautiful pleace with the most amazing night sky. Camels roam everywhere… we even had a baby one living inour front yeard! DId you know you can milk them? Well… I did. I can now say I've milked a camel and a goat 🙂

We worked with an incredible Pastor who is so committed to the Lord and his people. The tribe is very traditional (the non christians). They are very tribeal and consumed in their traditions like poligamy, female gential mutilation, older men buying young wives, removal of a bottom tooth, and many others. It is very unclean. Many of the young children do not wear any bottoms and wore the same outfit the whole time we were there. There is a small clinic within walking distance (an hour walk or so) but it is very limited and does have anti-venom. Snake bites are very common and because there is no near clinic that can treat them many of the victims die or suffer a severe effect. Children get diherreha and die of dehydration, malaria is common, and babies are often born with birth defects or often get sick. It is a very untouched place that will forever be in my heart. Keep them in your prayers – the oeple and the land. And pray with faith that God is breathing life there and sending change.

My eyes have been opened more than I ever thought they would. I also neve thought I would be living with three different Kenyan tribes submerged in different cultures. The ministry at Pokot consisdter of mainly teaching. Most of my team and I had a difficulty accepting that is where God wanted us. We felt like we could be doing something much more impactful. GOd really spoke to me about the importance of the youth. He remineded me of how I constantly heard in church and school how important we are (my generation) and that we have the power to change the world. I realized a big part of our ministy was conveying that message to the youth. Like showing them God's love and how important and powerful He is. Teaching them that they don't have to follow traditions. It makes sense, if we are trying to change the tribe shouldn't we start with the youth? Because the children of today are the future of tomorrow.

It was a good spiritual two weeks fr me. God revealed so many things tyo me about myself. I even preached on 1Cor12. God is just so good and is teaching me to love myself more and more everyday and through tthat I can love Him and others more than ever before. He showed me how I seek Him and have good intentions but I don't pursue Him as much as I need to. He is teaching me to see Him in EVERYTHING (Heb2:4). He created it all and his beauty and majesty is displayed everything we look. He is a big God and no prayer or request is too big for Him.

Through my community I have learned the importance of encouragement and honesty. I have learned to be raw and real and not hold back .Deep spiritual conversations are important along with group prayer and worship. I cannot wait to take these things home and put them into action, especially with my family.

GOD IS GOOD.
