The past few days have been exciting, scary, sad, crazy, and eye opening…in a sense it has been a roller coaster. God has been opening my mind to the fact that He actually, truly, with all of His being, loves me. The God that pulled THE Genesis 1, who created man from dirt, who reigns in Heaven, who DIED for my sins, loves me with everything He has (which is a whole lot).
I have been listening to a bunch of different sermons on my leader’s iPod about the revelation of why God created man in the first place. You see, God didn’t create us to worship Him because He is living in a place where He is surrounded by beautiful worship 24/7! He didn’t create us to serve Him because of the legions of angels that are at His disposal to do ANYTHING He commands in a moment’s notice! So why then did God choose to create you and me? He created you and me to pour out His love on…it’s that simple. God created man in His image and gave us the FREEDOM to choose whether or not we wanted to love Him back. Without that freedom our love would be absolutely pointless.
I am trying so hard to press into this fact that I thought I had known before. We grow up knowing (or thinking we know) and saying that God loves us; Jesus came down to earth died for us and so now we get to be in Heaven with Him if we just believe in our hearts that Jesus is Lord. YES! THIS IS SO TRUE BUT THERE IS SO MUCH MORE!! God doesn’t just desire us to believe in Him and do good things for Him; He wants us to love Him back! He wants us to truly, in an intimate way, love our Father with our whole hearts, with our entire being! I am so wishing I could just begin to feel and imagine the great love that God has for me…I believe it would change the way I view and go about my life. I know that this has nothing to do with Africa or what we are doing here in Kenya but I just wanted to challenge every one of you, as well as myself, to press into this revelation and ask our Papa to show us and reveal to us just how much love He has for us. Remember that God IS Love…His Spirit IS Love…and because of this we should Love Him just as much. Just a thought…
