Her name is Kayla.
5’9”, and hailing from Bristol, Indiana, Kayla has 3 brothers and 2 sisters. She once “sort of had a cat named fluffy…. wait, hairball! Her name was hairball! She was very fluffy and white, but she died… she got hit by a car… was that the only pet I’ve ever had? Ohhhh no, I had a fish. A pet fish”.
As a child she played with mud a lot – “a lot a lot”. She used to steal corn, cut it up, and then pretend to eat it. Some of her greatest memories as a child were times swimming in her grandma’s pool.
She is always ready to offer a helping hand, whether for cooking, or cleaning, or any of my crazy ideas (like the maze).
At every crusade, she holds a baby, and within a matter of minutes that baby is asleep in her arms. For awhile, I thought she was dipping her clothing in chloroform and that was what caused the ‘knockout effect’, but as it turns out it is simply her loving compassion, and gentle kindness.
She has some big God-given Kingdom dreams, which is pretty flippin’ awesome, because I love big God-given Kingdom dreams. The dream God gave her is impossible, which is pretty flippin’ awesome, because I love impossible dreams.
She is very balanced. If goodness is a fruit of the spirit (which it is), she exemplifies it very well.
She has a great sense of humor and style (though those two are not intertwined).
She has traveled to New York City, Kentucky (twice), Mexico (soon to be twice), the Dominican Republic and Kenya (twice), all for the sake of the gospel. Where she goes, so goes the Kingdom of God.
She is an incredible blessing to Kenya, to this team, and to me!
