Hearing through the static.

As a small group of my teammates and I walked down the side streets of Busia, I heard a faint voice behind us calling out to get our attention. Not bothering to turn and look, I assumed it was yet another child wanting us to stop and play with them or shake their hand. Plus, we were deep in conversation so by ignoring the child he would get the hint and stop, right? Wrong. The little unrelenting voice was still there trailing behind us.
I eventually turned around and my gaze met with a small boy about three years old waving his little arms in the air. He was wearing a light blue sweatshirt with matching pants and his runny nose was dripping down his face. He stopped in his tracks and his eyes immediately grew big and his entire face lite up with my response. After I smiled and waved back, he turned around to run back home. All this little boy wanted was a wave of the hand and be acknowledged.
This encounter made me wonder: How many times does God run after us, shouting out our name, waving His mighty arms in the air trying to gain our attention only to be drowned out by the hustle and bustle of our busy self-centered lives?
In everything we do and everything we gain in this world, God wants to be accredited. For we are told “…in all your ways acknowledge him…” (Proverbs 3:6). Our Father is screaming for our attention! He wants to speak to us personally and he is willing to run after us for however long it takes.

God has so much in store for you and he desires to tell you these plans personally, you just have to open your heart and listen.

"the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold" (Psalm 84:11)
