Final Days in Africa…

Hello everyone,

Our time here in Kenya is almost over. We only have 2 more weeks left, so this is probably my last blog. Its sad to think that were going to be leaving all the friends we’ve made and the relationships we have built both at the hospital and especially the IDP camp, but, it’s exciting to be able to see everyone back home, and take a shower every day…

The weeks here in Kenya have been really amazing and I have learned so much. I have talked to more people and heard more stories this trip than I have my entire life. It’s really amazing to see people here who have so little, and are struggling to even provide for their children yet they give what they have to make us feel welcomed and at home(this means having a lot of chai tea and a lot of food…)

I have done things here in Africa that I would have never imagined doing at home: going to the bathroom in a squatty potty, having 2 showers a week, giving a message to a group of people and killing a goat are just a few things…I feel like it was all apart of the African experience though, and I’m glad for all of it.
I came on this trip to grow closer to the Lord and to show people who God is and what He can do in their lives. But, God did so much more than just that. He taught me how much more I need to depend on Him in everything I do. He taught me that His will in my life isn’t to find a specific job, have that title and earn a specific amount of money. His will is that I seek to glorify His name in all that I do and bring the Kingdom wherever I go, to have faith in knowing He will provide for me, and to spread God’s Word to all that will listen.
God has truly changed the way I view things and my perception on how to live a life that’s pleasing to the Lord. I would have never imagined though that it would take a trip all the way across the world in Kenya, Africa to make these things known, but then again God works in mysterious ways…

Thanks to all my friends and family who made this trip possible for me, it’s something I will never forget…
