greetings from kenya! this past week the team was able to minister to some young men at a boy’s home called osiligi in isinya. they are chosen from the streets of nairobi and go through a process to see if they really want to change for the better. they all have incredible stories about how God has changed their lives. we got to sing with them and share testimonies and God’s love. most of the team played ‘football’ (soccer) with them on our last day there.
we finally got to go to kibera and played with children at an after school program. another american has been teaching the kids there how to play basketball, so we got to take part in that. i played guitar and sang and the children would gather around and some would sing along.
we had our last sunday at ICC Kiserian. we said our goodbyes and are praying that the Lord will bless that church with leaders who will help the people grow in the Lord. please continue to pray for james, the guy i met a while back who needed a job. he is still looking and got sick recently. he told me that the devil is really attacking.
we visited ICC’s church in kitengela. we got to meet up with some youth our age to do evangelism around the area. we didn’t find out until after we left that many of them weren’t born again themselves. i’m praying they will continue seeking and will be able to make a difference in kitengela. one of the young men, cephas, told me that most people in that area claim to be christians but don’t really know what that means.
dad, i miss you. i’ve been thinking about you, especially when God wakes me up super early. i’m so excited to tell you everything that’s been on my heart and mind during this trip. i love you!
momma, i’ve been having dreams about you. how weird is that? nothing bad. we met up in walmart in one of them. i thought that was interesting. i’m so excited to see you and dad! less than two weeks! i love you!
caroline, i’ve never journaled so much in my entire life. people make fun of me for it. all in fun, of course. i’m so excited to go to your wedding! maybe i can come help you with getting everything ready beforehand? spend some time with my frusin while she’s still single? i love you and miss you like crazy.
chris, i have so much to tell you. i can’t wait to see you and i hope my parents won’t be too rushed to get back home. but hopefully i will be able to see you when i go back up that way for caroline’s wedding. if you’re available on september 4th, i’d like to claim you as my date. 🙂 i like you.
