Fooood :)

Kenya is so amazing and I can’t believe the trip is half over, crazy. This trip is such a blessing, I cannot express in words how much it is affecting me and forming me into a more faithful daughter of Christ. Let me just say, the food is something I was a little hesitant about prior to coming. I’m not extremely picky and I knew I would eat a bizarre meal if I was hungry enough, but I never expected what was in-store for us. We arrived at the hostel and found out we would have someone cooking for our team. His name is Patrick and he is so great! His life story is pretty...

Wheels on the Bus

It’s 8AM, I try to go back to sleep, But all I hear is the constant *beep, Beep, BEEP* I slowly creep out of my bottom bunk bed, Eyes barely open, trying not to hit my head. I swiftly scurry to the bottom floor, And roll open the big sliding glass door. I groggily ask, “Are the Kenyans here?” Someone quickly replies, “No, they’re not even near.” I wait patiently for Patrick to bring out the food, Bread again? *Ugh* I’m SO not in the mood. They said they’d be here some time ago, But it’s Africa time, so we never really know....

Lets Take Tea Under the Tree

Hey oohh I’m listening to Jason Mraz right now reminding me of home and of California. It’s winter here in Africa so all those jokes about me coming home nice and tan are unfortunately not coming true. So many of them see my freckles and think its a rash or something cause nobody here has them. They’re like whats wrong with your skin?! haha Anyways, we visited the Maasai tribe. It was nice to get out of the city and into the bush! It was GORGEOUS! Like wow. It was a whole family living in this little hut out in the bush. The husband and his two wife’s....

Church Plant

This last week we challenged the team to be praying about what God wants us to do on this trip because we felt like there was more that God wanted from us. So as the week went on we started working at this run down church and we spent one day cleaning up the yard and then started evangelizing. During the week we would worship at the church and everyone would just watch and when I say worship I mean awesome, dancing, jumping, amazing worship (thanks Julie). So the pastor had people coming up to him and asking when we would start having service there because they liked what was going on, so...

Massai tribe-ing it up

HELLO FRIENDS AND FAMILY! Stuff is going well in Kenya. We started planting a church last week. The team and I tore down the old church(kind of sad because it was an awesome shed looking church) and cleared rocks out of the way. We have been doing some heavy duty little construction by hand. The little town we are planting the church in is called Kiserian about 20 minutes from Nairobi. The town is full of donkeys and the Massai tribe. The best part of ministering in Kiserian so far is that one of the Massai tribe whos name is Isaiah(pronounced E-sigh-a) randomly showed up to our work sight...

Isn’t that beautiful?

This week we did a lot of work in a place called Kiserian, which is about a 25 minute drive from where we are staying in Nairobi at the Kenya Nature Center Hostel.  A part of what we did was start a new church (ICC Kiserian), and we even visited a close by Masai village.  Nathan, one of the members on our team, created a special bond with one of the Masai members (one of the tribes that lives in what we as Americans view Africa as being-all green with acacia trees everywhere, it was beautiful!).  The Masai member, Isaiah, then invited us all to come and eat with him...
