The first rule we learned when we got here was to always eat or drink what they give you. So, When we go to Tengi Tatu the first tribe we visited, I was given a nice big cup of chai. I thought oh yum chai because I love it.. but when I looked in my cup, I almost died. There was a dead fly in my chai and I had to drink it. ..yum.
The second thing I learned was dresses and skirts here are super classy!
The third is don't ask what your about to eat, half the time you would rather not know.
We spend the first two weeks in Kenya in Tengi Tatu. We have been doing door-to-door evangalism. In Tengi Tatu the houses or more like huts, were miles apart. We probably walked close to twelve miles a day. Walking twelve miles a day in the hot African sun takes a lot out of you and causes some really painful sun burns! The next tribe we went to was an eight hour drive from Kijabe. We stayed there in a girls home. The girls were in high school and all sponsered to go to school. We did door-to-door there too. It wasn't nearly at hot. I experienced my first African rain there! Now we are in Nkbu, which was a 30 minute bus ride form the other town we were staying in. A 30 minute bus ride in an African bus/van with 16 people in with only 14 seat was a longggg 30 minutes! I was squished between the door and a seat, it was painful. We are now surrounded by beautiful banana, mango and coffee trees. Along with corn, there is corn everywhere. I constantly feel 14 like I'm in a corn maze! I love it here and I absolutely love the people we are meeting everyday.
