These past two weeks have been spent in Tangi Tatu with the Maasi tribe. The mountainous land of Kenya is definitely different than what I expected but it is beyond gorgeous! This place is definitely one of God's masterpieces! We have been doing door to door evangalism and it has really surprised me how hospitable everyone we visit is, Christian or not. They have so little but they give what they have. They would use every last bit of their ingredients just to make their visitors chai tea. Pastor Amos's mom,Rebekah made all the girls on the team earrings and she also made me a braclet that took her like two days to make. When we first started doing door to door evangalism, we would start by asking them a few questions and then some people would want to invite Jesus into their heart right away. I think at first all of us had a hard time believing how sincere their committment really was. Then one of my fabulous teammates brought to our attention that God has been working in their hearts. He has been preparing them for this day that we would just speak the words and deliver the news about Jesus. We have met so many amazing people during door to door evangalism. One day, my group met Cecilia. She was a Catholic and wanted to become a Christian. Her husband had died a few months ago and she hadn't been able to get any rest at night because she missed him so much. After we talked to her for awhile she was crying and decided to ask Jesus into her heart. She came to fellowship that evening and was so joyful. She even had a glow to her. She was dressed in here nicest clothes and was just dancing around and praising Lord. She was so happy. She said that she was now able to sleep at night because God had given her peace and comfort.
We have also visited some schools in the evening. The kids all swarm around us and they touch our skin and our hair. I didn't realize how much of an audience would be drawn to my braces. They have never seen them before and at first it was a little uncomfortable necause they just stared at my teeth but then Nicki told me just to embrace it and tell them that I had to get them because I ate too much raw lions meat! It is definitely a good conversation started. Hakuna Matata(no worries) we have been very well feed thanks to Pastor Simon's wife, momma Margaret, and his niece Vicki who have been making us delicious meals everyday. 17 people have come to the Lord and I pray that seeds have also been planted!!! God has been teaching me so much in these last two weeks. I have learned to pray BIG!!!Nothing is too big for God!I am also learning to pray whats on my heart and just even if you are praying the same words in you head as everyone else, pray them out loud because God loves to hear your voice. And also I have learned to have faith when I pray and to actually believe that what I prayed for will come true. We now have the weekend to kindof recooperate(shower, washing clothes, haircuts, resting) before we go to the next tribe on Monday evening. Thanks for all your prayers!!!
