You ain’t lovin’, if you ain’t shovin’

"You ain't lovin', if you ain't shovin'" A quote from one of my teammates as we squeezed our entire team (23 people) onto a bus. Rule #1 about Kenya: there is always room for one more.

Alright friends, this is my second attempt on writing a blog post before the power/internet shuts off so these are going to be short. BUT I will be happy to tell you all about my adventures when I return =)

Rule #2: Kenyans have no concept of time. For example: breakfast was supossed to be at 9am this morning. We didn't sit down to eat till after 11am. Yes, this comes with a more laid back way of life but the fact that most Africans do not own watches plays a big part. What will I learn from this? To be more patient and become easily entertained.

Yesterday was our first service at Deliverance Church and it lasted about 3 hours. At one point, we were singing a loud joyful song (which most songs are in Kenya) and all hands were in the air with praise. Then the power went out. The microphones shut off and you no longer could hear the piano but they kept on singing. And not just singing, but just as loud or even louder than when we had music. This community loves to praise the Lord! So much so they  say it after almost every sentence.

Today is our first day off and my roommates and I have big plans: laundry, showering, and finding internet. As you can tell, I found internet. One down, two to go!

With love from Busia!
