Ashley from my team wrote a sweet blog about an experience we had with a man named Steven Katana. I will share from my perspective:
It was very hot. We walked for twenty minutes. We showed up at a man's house. I was half asleep to be honest, and pretty exhausted.
Kolby shared for about twenty minutes with the man, Steven Katana. Ashley, Kolby, Sam B and I met his whole family. His little girl was very sweet, but kind of scared of me. I sat and listened. I didn't expect to speak, I was just going to sit back and let everyone from the team step up. Towards the end, God gave me the story of the woman at the well.
She was going to the well for water, but Jesus said He would give her Water and she would never thirst again. I talked about the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5, and many other things. God was bringing verse after verse to the forefront of my memory, and it was exciting.
When I finished, I asked him if he was ready to leave behind the unsatisfying drugs and alcohol, and start drinking from God's Living Water. He was.
He gave his life to Christ, and got filled with the Spirit.
The following week, we found out he hadn't touched the drugs or alcohol. He was experiencing withdrawl, and so we prayed for him. God reminded me of the superhero Spiderman, and how he was bit by a radio active spider and it changed his DNA. God was speaking to me that He was going to give Steven new blood, new DNA to be able to resist the alcohol and drugs and to be free from the symptoms of withdrawl. Steven Katana is a superhero.
He continues to follow God. He is reading from the bible we gave him daily. He is free from addiction. We met with him today, and he was sharing about Jesus at work, and his friend wants to give his life to Christ. We will be meeting with them potentially later today.
Glory!
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Father Son and Holy Ghost.
