Poem: There is Hope

There is Hope

Trembling in Your presence
My breaths are deep
My breaths are quick
On my knees I cry

I hear a steady voice
In my unsteady mind
In my unsteady heart
I hope that it’s You

“There is hope”
There is hope
There is hope
Hope for something I’m not sure of

He lay there silently
His chest rising
His chest falling
Eyes sealed shut

Is there really hope?
Is it hope for his earthly life?
Is it hope for his eternal life?
Is this really the end?

On my face before You
Tears are falling from my eyes
Screams are escaping my mouth
How can this be happening?

A strong sense of death washes over me
I pray that I am wrong
I pray that I have it all wrong
Lord, I don’t understand

The night drags on
Nothing else happens
Until 3 that morning
His eyes open

There is hope!
Praise the Lord!
There is hope!
I wasn’t completely wrong

Death occurred
Death needed to happen
Death of the flesh
He is reconciled with Christ

He is alive in Christ
He has broken the chains
Of generational curses
He is covered by the blood

He no longer walks in fear
He is a demon chaser
He is a Christ follower
He is Michael.
