Hello family and friends of team Kenya,
I wanted to let you know that I heard from the team leaders yesterday and give you a little update here on how the team is doing.
The team is officially in the middle of nowhere in Central Kenya. An 8 hour bus ride from Kijabe turned into an 11 hour journey. I'm sure there are lots of funny stories to come about that transportation day. The leaders had to hike 30 minutes up a hill to stand in the middle of a field in order to have barely enough phone signal to talk to me. We were only able to talk for about 10 minutes and during that time we got cut off 7 times. So, here's my disclaimer…the following information is what I think I heard the leaders tell me as far as details. The connection was awful, but this is what I think they said regarding a little update for you guys…
-They are in a remote village with the Pokot tribe.
-There are lots of camels
-There's an elusive python that they've been told they will get to see soon. (At first I thought they said, there's a phyton we will eat soon. But in fact they said, there's a phthon we will "see" soon.)
-The team is living in a house that was built by a missionary family who was there back in the 90s.
-The team is healthy and "strong as lions" as their leaders said. 🙂
-They are enjoying ministry which mostly entails working at a local school, teaching, investing into the kids, etc.
-They will be out at this village until October 24th when they'll make the journey back to Kijabe.
Unfortunately, it looks like they will not be able to call home while they're out there, like they were able to from the last village. The connect is just so difficult. I will talk to them again next Thursday, as we have an appointment where they once again will go for a hike to call in. At that point I will post another update for you all.
Thanks for your prayers for this team. They're doing really well and loving life in Africa.
