I’m just going to start off by saying choosing what to write about is extremely hard, but I guess I have to choose something because if I tell you everything it would be pages long. Actually, I could write a book about it, but that’s a joke because I’m no writer.
Training camp has been an experience I will never forget. Seriously…It’s literally impossible for me to forget my experience here and let me tell you, I have a horrible memory. I want to share with you the message that opened my eyes and changed me last night.
Kelly, one of the AIM directors, told us about the Holy Spirit and how God uses it to speak to us. We could actually be prophets and receive visions and hear the voice of God. The speaker wanted to show us that it was true so she looked at me and said, “Debbie, God wants you to know something.” She looked me in the eyes than stood there praying. Then she spoke to me and said, “Debbie, God wants you to know that you have been forgiven, and most importantly you have the power to forgive.” My teammates just laughed and looked at me, then at her in awe. I had just told them the other day, that I was in a prison of bitterness and I needed strength to forgive someone that used to be really close to me. She asked me if what she said was relevant to my life and tears just streamed down my face as I nodded yes. My teammates are amazing. They said “ Yes! Yes! She needed that. It’s so spot on!” Then our speaker told us some even greater news, she told us that we could do the same thing.
Have you ever heard a voice in your head or saw an image in your mind that you were completely sure wasn’t your own? Did you just pretend that it was a random thought that popped in your mind that had no significance? Well I can tell you from personal experience that those thoughts are significant and it is the Holy Spirit speaking to you. God wants to tell you something and pretending that the thought has no importance is shutting God out of your life. That was a huge reason I felt so caged up and I just needed the Holy Spirit to work through me and move in me. He can do the same to you. You have that power, you just need to invite the Holy Spirit back into your life and you can experience the freedom that has changed me.
