Mungu ni mwema

At training camp I proclaimed to God, "Yes God, send me I will go wherever you want me to go." Last time I let go of everything I held onto and let God work in my life I ended up on this trip to Kenya, flying and driving thousands of miles to reach people who needed to hear about Jesus! I don't think I realized the statement I made and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Thinking about Gods love, I want to do nothing else but tell people who are hurting, hungry, and in need, to tell them that God loves them, feeds them, and heals them! "

If Jesus Christ be God and died for me than no sacrifice can be to great for me to make to him." – Ct Studd

As I was sitting on the 13 hour bus ride to Mpeketoni, we were 6 hours into it and I began to think about Moses' mom in the book of Exodus and the faith that she had to hide Moses for a few years to keep him from being killed and then sending him away in the river because as a Mother she knew what was best for her child. I think about my mom and the way she raised me and sheltered me to keep me from getting hurt in any way she could, and now that im older she had to have FAITH to give me to my Heavely Father because thats what is best for my life. My mother is a strong woman of God and I thank my God for that because I wouldn't be on this mission, craving to tell people about the LOVE he has for everyone if it wasn't for the loving Mother he put in my life. I love you Mom! Happy Birthday!!!

After a 13 hour bus ride to the middle of nowhere, passing little villages and huts, we arrived Friday morning at 10am. We have until Tuesday to relax and adjust and then we start ministering. I conquered the squatty potty. Also, learning to get used to brushing my teeth with my water bottle not the faucet water. Yesterday 3 of us attempted to hand wash our clothes and I will forever be grateful for my washer and dryer at home… A 17 year old girl helped us, or actually she did most of the washing and we rinsed and I was exausted! It's rude to not accept the food or drinks they give us. So far they give us hot water for coffee or tea twice a day and it has been feeling 100 degrees with humidity! Try drinking coffee while you are sweating!

This morning at 3:30  I woke up to the sound of pouring rain, and minutes later the sound of Pastor Bishop (Dad) singing worship in Swahili. His first thoughts and words in the morning are praises and thanks to our creator! It was definitely a wake up call to the things I make more important than worship.

There are a few things that I expected to be worse than they really are. We have running water and a shower instead of "bucket showers". We have beds and I expected to sleep on the ground. I share a king size bed with 2 others girls.

Mungu ni mwema! (God is good!) 🙂

Thanks for the prayers and financial support to get me here! I am loving it!
