Hello from Nebraska!

Hello all!

My name is Sam Thomsen and I am from the state of
Nebraska.  In case you do not know your geography, Nebraska is right in
the middle of the United States.  The state is known for Husker
football, corn, and the land being extremely flat.  If you have never
visited I recommend you make a journey.  It will blow your mind! (Okay, I
may be exaggerating…haha!)

Anyways…a little about myself.
I am 22 years old and graduated this last May from Nebraska Wesleyan
University. (Which is a small university in the capital, Lincoln.)  I
received a degree in Biology and currently am applying to medical
school.  I am definitely going to enjoy getting away from the stress of
the application process and enjoy spending time in Africa getting to
know all of you and seeing how God will use us.  When I am not busy with
medical school activities, I enjoy sports, hiking, camping, reading,
and music.  In fact, I have become really involved in hiking and camping
so I am excited to do both of those in Africa.

In the weeks
leading up to our trip I have been praying Mark 10:45 which says: “For
even the son of man did not come to be served, but to serve and give his
life as a ransom for many.”  As you all know God has given us a great
opportunity to serve those in Africa and each other.  I truly cannot
wait and will continue to pray that God will prepare us to serve.

See you all soon,
Sam
