This week has brought forth every emotion in the book. There are so many things I want to write about but there are two stories that have captured my heart and have drawn me to tears this past week.
Elizabeths story: During house to house visits two of my teammates and I met a woman by the name of Elizabeth. We began talking to her and found out that she stopped going to church 5 years ago due to events that happened in her life. Her countanence was downcast and despair was radiating from her soul. Her eyes were full of sorrow and would hardly make eye contact with any of us. So, we prayed for her and left, hoping to see joy restored to this precious woman. The following day we returned to find the Joy of her salvation restored. We began talking to her and my friend Kaitlyn asked her if she talked to God and she said with a giant smile, "Yes, and He remembered me." Elizabeth said that God sent us to her to show her that the Heavely Father knows and remembers her. To some this may be small but, to Elizabeth this was life changing. Sometimes I think we complicate Jesus and require a miracle to believe he still exists but, why? Doesn't that take a massive chunk of faith out of our relationship with the Almighty? I want to challenge you, as well as myself, to look for God in the small things, and appreciate the simplicity.
Hospital: This morning we went to the local hospital to pray for the people there, and I left feeling heavy and burdened. We layed hands on people with malaria, broken bones, pneumonia, ulcers, heart problems, motorcycle accidents, miscarriages, and even prayed over the body of a woman who had passed away from AIDS. My heart broke at the sight of this young lady, laying lifeless in her bed, and knowing I will never be able to hear her story. She had no breath to speak, yet she preached one of the most powerful sermons I've ever heard. These diseases and illnesses are a result of satans attacks on these people. They're a biproduct of sin, and darkness in their lives. We have come here to pray for healing but, healing that is much greater than anything physical. Our prayer is that God would restore the hearts of these people and draw them to Himself!
The Lord is teaching me huge things here and I wish I could share more! These are two of the hundreds of stories and hundreds of lessons I've learned in the past week. Continue to pray for healing and restoration for the Kenyan people. Love and miss you all!
